Yum Portuguese Crusty Homemade Bread
Ingredients
500g all-purpose flour (4 cups)
10g active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
10g salt (1 2/3 teaspoons)
400ml warm water (1 3/4 cups)
Preparation
Mix the yeast with the water until dissolved and let it rest for 10 minutes.
In a bowl, place the flour and salt, make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
Mix the flour well without kneading.
Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for 2 to 3 hours.
On a floured surface, place the dough and stretch one end towards the center, then the other and repeat 3 to 4 times.
Shape the dough into a ball and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Place the dough on a flour-dusted baking sheet, make a superficial cut on top, and bake at 230°C (450°F) for about 30 minutes, depending on your oven.
