Ingredients

1 loaf French or Portuguese bread, about 1 lb.1 stick salted butter, at room temperature6 cloves garlic, minced1/4 cup Italian salad dressing1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, dividedFresh Parsley, to garnish Get Portuguese ingredients

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine the butter, garlic, Italian salad dressing, and 1 cup of the Mozzarella cheese in a large bowl until well incorporated.
  3. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and spread the top of each half with equal amounts of garlic butter.
  4. Place the halves on a baking sheet, butter side up.
  5. Top with Parmesan cheese, then with remaining Mozzarella.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
  7. Increase heat to 450° and bake for up to 8 additional minutes, until the top begins to brown.
  8. Keep an eye on it during this time.
  9. Remove and cut into 1-inch slices.
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve with pasta, soup, or homemade marinara sauce.
