Ingredients

7 tablespoons (1/2 cup + 1 tbsp) butter (unsalted), softened3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons sugar14 oz ricotta cheese6 medium eggsLemon zest (to taste)1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking powderGround cinnamon (to taste)Butter for greasing the panPowdered sugar for dusting Get Portuguese ingredients

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Grease a cake pan with butter and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar, beating well until smooth.
  4. Add the ricotta cheese, lemon zest, and eggs.
  5. Beat everything together until well combined.
  6. Add the baking powder and flour, then mix again until smooth.
  7. Finally, add ground cinnamon and gently fold it into the batter.
  8. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and bake for about 45 minutes.
  9. Check if it’s done by inserting a toothpick into the center—if it comes out clean, it’s ready.
  10. Remove from the oven, let it cool, and serve dusted with powdered sugar.
